Yellow velvet shirt!?!? I know I know hippie, but I'm loving the hippie-ish trend that's in. I found this beautiful yellow velvet shirt at a Goodwill for $6. It's so unique and different I had to have it. It did need some changes. The sleeves were looooong and so was the shirt. Definitely needed to try and do something with it.
Cut a good chunk off the bottom and the sleeves. (maybe about 4 inches on the bottom and 6 inches from the sleeves) I ended up using stitch witchery and a cool iron to hem the shirt! I tried sewing it and the seams just didn't look right on the velvet so I had to seam rip them out and went to the next best thing-stitch witchery. Super easy to use and super quick too! I love that the shirt fits now because it is so unique!
I think I'll be wearing this throughout the summer and into the fall. The colors are great and I love the flowered detail!
Even though velvet is a heavier fabric the sleeves now have a lot of movement and cutting off as much fabric as I did it is a lot lighter to wear!
I love finding something that is a little different and making it into something I will wear!
