I love the start of something new. A new year kind of gives me an excuse to clean things up, get things out and change things up! I have been realizing I love simplicity. (maybe because with two little girls all over the place I can't clean a lot!?) I really want to focus on buying fewer things for the house, but making sure that what I do buy will last for a long time. I have a few ideas on what I'm going to be buying and changing up. I love pinterest for all the ideas it gives me so here is what I'm loving and thinking about.
I just found these and think this is perfect down a hallway, bathroom or even kitchen! Found here but I am thinking I might try to DIY on these and use plastic, not glass . I love the fact you can change the flowers out or even just use greenery!
It's time to change out some pictures and paintings on my hodge podge wall I have. I like the idea of doing some simple drawings in black and white and maybe having my Sophia do a few of her own masterpieces to showcase.
Any little sayings that I try to apply to my life work great on the walls. It's a constant reminder of what I am working to. This print is less than $7 and can be instantly downloaded. I love this saying and want to either do this myself or get it since it is such a great deal. You can see it here.
I love this idea. Even mounting it under my kitchen cabinets would work! Having dried herbs or flowers hanging from a wooden branch would smell amazing whenever you walk by. I think this is such a fun idea to incorporate into a kitchen! Found the idea here. I have also seen something like this hanging in a shower with eucalyptus tied to it! You're able to smell the eucalyptus when showering! (this might make it into multiple rooms)
Kind of trendy but I have wanted white fake deer antlers for months now. My husband is not so keen on the idea, but I think I'm going to just get it and then he'll see my vision after it's hanging in our house. Found here.
Because I want to use more simple things on my walls I really want some fun statement pillows. I sew my own pillows and am in desperate need of recovering them. I love these sequins (don't know if hubby will, but I think Sophia would be on my side on this one) and the heart one. The last pillows I did were cream suede and they showed every peanut butter and jelly sandwich, juice and dirty hand marks. I need some color and pattern to hide it all! Found the picture here.
I want to start using more plants. I DO NOT have a green thumb but I want to research some plants that don't need a lot of attention. I think it adds some color to any place and it brings the outdoors in, not to mention that it can improve the air quality inside the house. More information found here.
A good throw can make a huge difference in any room! Using color or a pattern can change the ambiance of a room. I found this one above at Ikea but also love the other one below for a pop of color. Found here.
And not to forget our bedroom I am loving this bedspread. I have looked at it for years! It's so different, but beautiful! It's a bit expensive on Anthropologie (seen here) so I am going to try to find it somewhere for cheaper. If not I think I'll just pay the money and tell hubby we'll have it longer than one year! We'll see how it goes.
