I love boot socks and how there is a little lace that shows over the tops of boots. I see them all over Pinterest but because of the price and the fact that it's still warm in FL I just don't want to spend a lot of money on them. I decided to do a little DIY and try to make my own. However there's a little twist to it that will keep my feet a little cooler on our warm winter days here.
I had this lace tank top that I got for $1 and never wore. The lace is so pretty and thought it would be perfect for my little project.
I measured the width I needed just by holding it up to my own leg (nothing fancy) and cut the end off. I made sure to leave about 1 1/2 inches extra and sewed two buttons at the top of the lace. Because the crocheted lace has large holes I lucked out and was able to use them as button holes and be able to adjust the width.
I sewed the buttons on by hand so there is no sewing machine required. And that's it! I made fake lace boot socks! Surprise! No sock is involved!
I am able to wrap the lace around my leg and button it above my boot. I can wear these with all my boots because I can adjust the width with the buttons!
These "fake" boot socks would be such a fun little gift for someone or just a project you could do as a treat for yourself. They have quite a few different types of lace at Joann Fabrics that would work for this as well. (unless you have an old lace tank top lying around like I did) It took all of five minutes to do and I think they are just adorable!
